Downtown Sioux Falls
With 150,000 people, Sioux Falls is growing every year. Our downtown skyline is expanding, with a mix of historic buildings and modern additions.
Sioux River Running Through Downtown Sioux Falls
The Big Sioux River runs through downtown creating Sioux Falls River Greenway. The city has an exciting plan for this area, creating shops and restaurants along the east bank of the river, tied together with our bike trail.
Lunch Time!
Downtown Sioux Falls has a great variety of cafes and other unique eateries, with plenty of outdoor seating. Streets musicians often entertain shoppers and diners.
Phillips to the Falls
Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls becomes a wide boulevard as it connects visitors to nearby Falls Park. Known as Phillips to the Falls, this street will eventually house lofts, stores, restaurants entertainment options and possibly a hotel on the west side, with parkland on the east.
Our City
A major tourist attraction, Falls Park sees visitors from all over the world. The park is also home to an observation tower and the Overlook Café.
Farmers Market at Falls Park
On Saturdays from May through October, Falls Park hosts the Farmers Market. This open-air market offers fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, honey, meat, eggs, bakery and more.
Sundays at Fawick Park
Sioux Falls loves live music. You can find outdoor concerts at several city parks, including Fawick Park, which hosts several jazz shows during the summer.
Cruizin the Bike Trails
The city recreation trail is a very popular feature. You can bike (or run or skate) a 20 mile loop around Sioux Falls without every crossing a street, winding through trees, along the river and over bridges. A growing number of residents now bike to work downtown.
Tubing the Big Sioux!
You can also raft along the Big Sioux River.
Canoeing Downtown
Or take a canoe ride through downtown.
At the Net
Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation offers leagues in several sports, including year-round volleyball.
Kickball Anyone?
Kickball is extremely popular, with more than 2,000 participants.
Sioux Falls Storm Driving to Another Win.
If you’d rather watch from the sideline, you can cheer on a variety of teams. The Sioux Falls Storm are champions in Arena football.
Pool Gone to the Dogs
Even your dog can join in the fun. In addition to dog parks, we open up city pools at the end of the summer and invite them in for some canine games.
Stone Pagoda at the Japanese Gardens - Covell Lake
The Japanese Gardens are a unique feature of our parks system. It’s a great place to relax and read or take a stroll.
Putting for Par
Tuthill Park is the place to go for a round of disc golf. The course stays up all year
Beautiful Terrace Park
Terrace Park is one of Sioux Falls’ most scenic.
Sculpture Walk Downtown
If you like art, Sioux Falls is for you. Every year, our downtown SculptureWalk showcases a new collection of pieces from artists all over the world. Visitors vote for their favorite, and the city buys the winner for permanent display around town.
Take the Trolley when your downtown
No need to drive downtown. When you don’t feel like walking, just take the trolley.
Cherapa Place
The new Cherapa Place building downtown holds a lot more than offices and a new restaurant along the river. It’s a “green” building that’s environmentally friendly and energy efficient. There’s even preferred parking for hybrid cars and bikes.
